Introducing he Strauch "Mad Batt'r!"

A Strauch-quality carder that would produce those wonderful, outrageous "art batts" full of exciting fibers and textures.

We now offer the Strauch Model 302 "Mad Batt'r" art drum carder as part of our regular product line.

This carder has deeper and coarser carding cloth on the large drum to accommodate all the fun add-ins that make these art batts say spin me!. The machine is built on the standard 200 series 4" tall solid ash-wood frame and, like all my drum carders, uses the unique "Slicker-Licker" cloth on the small drum. As with all of our 200 series carders, the Mad Batt'r has a 4:1 turning ratio. The brush attachment makes it easier to control the type of art batt you are making.

The batts produced are 8" wide and 27" long

Special tools included with each Mad Batt'r are:

• The popular Knuckle-Saving-Batt-Pick, an invaluable tool for removing the batt without damage to the equipment or the user.
• A Doffer/Cleaner Brush to thoroughly and easily clean any residual fibers from the carding drum.
• A small cleaner/dabber brush for use on the licker in drum.
• Table clamps to secure the carder to the work surface.

For those who need a larger production rate, a "Finest double wide" (also known as the Model 405x2) is available. Part of the flagship "Finest" model series, this top of the line model is unique and comes complete with all available features including the Brush Attachment. The wood frame is ash with a warm honey-oak finish. It has a 7" diameter x 7-3/4" wide working drum and a 2" diameter x 8" wide licker drum producing a batt approximately 7" wide x 22" long. The overall length of the machine is 24" and 11-1/2" wide with a 6" high frame. An important feature: Since the swing of the handle clears the table surface, the carder can be placed anywhere on the work surface

This "middle of the road" Strauch chain drive drum carder for home use also has a 7" diameter x 7-3/4" wide working drum and a 2" diameter x 8" wide licker drum producing a batt approximately 7" wide x 22 long. The overall length of the machine is 24". The width is 11-1/2" and uses a 4" high frame. This carder has to be at the edge of the work surface, allowing the crank to clear the table.

New: included packer brush

The new and very convenient Teasing Tool is used to open locks and matted tips and tease fiber prior to carding. Also, use it to remove vegetable matter from the locks. It comes with a "C" clamp to attach the tool to the work surface. Both hands are free to work the fiber. Larger than a Flicker, you can prepare fiber faster with the Teasing Tool. The wood base measure 6-1/2" long x 6" wide. The available area for doing the fiber preparation is 3" long x 5" wide.
